About Us

JR Building is a well established company that has built an excellent reputation over the last 14 years.  Our workforce are highly skilled and dedicated who possess a diversity of skills and enjoy surmounting the challenges presented by both modern and traditional building techniques. We pride ourselves on quality craftsmanship, outstanding service and a willingness to take on challenging and unusual projects.

The ethic and belief upon which the business is based is one of customer is king. We specialise in the private residential market and recognise the importance of respecting your home. We operate with an open book policy of honesty with our customers and work hard to ensure excellent communication. As a result of this, the business has grown from strength to strength. From new builds to conversions to home improvements, we produce work of the highest quality and can carry out contracts up to 1M.

Within the company we have ground workers, bricklayers, carpenters, plasterers, tillers, plumbers, decorators and project managers.  We sub-contract electrical works but most other trades are covered in-house.  Our carpentry teams are extremely versatile covering not only carpentry but also kitchen fitting, window fitting and roofing works.  Direct employment of as many trades as possible ensures a greater degree of control, reliability and accountability.  The sub-contractors we do use are thoroughly vetted and aware of our company ethic.  This broad range of trades makes us ideally placed to provide a full maintenance service although we are not an emergency maintenance service.

Our employees are our greatest company asset and we are therefore strongly committed to investing in training for our staff aided by the CITB.  At any one time we have several apprentices in various stages of achieving their NVQs.

We cover the following areas: Cheltenham, Stroud, Stonehouse, Tetbury, Cirencester, Quedgeley, Severn Vale and Berkeley

Environmental Policy

Our environmental policy and ecological beliefs are founded on simple logic. We run low emissions vehicles wherever possible and try not to travel too far for work. Wherever possible we will recycle scrap wood to go to wood burners, hardcore to go to farm gates, metals etc to recycling centres. We strictly control the way we dispose of plastics and other difficult materials by using fully licensed operators equipped to deal with waste. We use email to communicate as much as possible and avoid unnecessary wasted paper.

We practically encourage environmentally sound designs by ensuring insulations are of the correct standards (or above) and sourced ethically. Wherever possible we encourage alternative green heating sources including solar and air source heat pumps. There is always a practical element to being green i.e. an ecologically sound product is not so sound if it has travelled half way across the world. We also recognise that ecological products tend to cost more and as such do not suit all budgets. If the ecological alternative does not match the budget then a cheaper alternative is still better then none at all!

We are increasingly involved in Ecological building projects. We have gained considerable experience in dealing with lime based products including Hempcrete, Lime Plasters, Lime Renders, Lime Mortars, Renewable Insulants, Green Roofs, Solar Thermal, Clay and Adobe Building.
